Saving Tania\'s Privates

If you didn’t think it possible to laugh about breast cancer, you haven’t read Tania Katan’s award winning memoir about her battle with this disease. Now she’s taken her humorous and loving “mammoir” and adapted it to the stage in Saving Tania’s Privates. It’s a show about “far out families, quirky girlfriends and boobs — but not necessarily in that order.” Get a sneak peak on YouTube!

Keira Blows Up Over Big Screen Bosom

July 29th, 2008

Keira KnightleyAccording to Good Morning America, Keira Knightley is fighting to keep her boobs from morphing into digitally enhanced mammary masses when they appear in an upcoming film. It seems that Ms. Knightley’s perfectly proportiond A cups don’t quite fill up the big screen. Interesting story and not the first time Ms. Knightley has complained of her bosom being overblown.  Her girls were also larger than life on the 2004 King Arthur movie poster.  Should an actress be able to control how her body is represented in the media? Is it okay to erase wrinkles, trim tummies, but not bust out boobs?

First up is an enlightening article in Slate about harnessing the untapped power of boob movement. Second, the story of a woman whose sports bra saved her life when she was stranded in the Bavarian Alps. Happy boob-related reading!

bOObs Named Best Consumer Health Book of 2007

May 12th, 2008

From the Library Journal:

Boobs: a Guide to Your Girls. This is the book about breast health that your best girlfriend wrote. Squires , the self-described “boob-lady” and mind behind www.booksonboobs.com, offers readers a breezy “mammoir” covering breast lore, choosing a bra that actually fits, and breast health. It has less medical detail than Dr. Susan Love’s Breast Book, but it includes a “boobliography,” current information about breast disease and cosmetic procedures, and a format and style that will appeal to young readers.

Nipple Ring Nonsense

March 28th, 2008

 nipple rings

Today’s news story about a woman asked to remove her nipple rings before boarding an airplane — but not the jewelry adorning her navel — is made even more ridiculous by this accompanying photo. The offended boob owner re-enacted her ordeal on a mannequin dressed in an under wire bra. (It was unclear whether the artificial torso sported her own set of nips or not.)
